was surprised to learn from the press release under your name
dated July 30 that you will assume the post of deputy chairman
after January 1.
Over the years I have always been impressed by the outstanding
leadership you have exercised not only in your organization
but also in Australian industrial and busnies circles.
It therefore came as a surprise to hear of your rather
early retirement from day-to-day management. However, it
was reassuring to know that you would remain on the board
of directors as deputy chairman after January.
Again, my heartiest congratulations on the splendid achievements
in your career to date and best wishes for many more years
of success at your new post.
